Carol Casey Gelatt, Managing Principal of Gelatt
Partners since its founding in 2001, brings over 25 years of business
management and senior-level leadership experience to her work as an executive
coach and consultant to senior leaders and boards of directors. Her specialties
include assessment, planning, change management and leadership development.
Since 2005 Carol has served as the Fund for Leadership Advancement Consultant
for The James Irvine Foundation.
Before establishing Gelatt Partners, Carol spent six
years in executive roles with two privately-held Internet companies. She was a
member of the executive team and Vice President of Marketing and University
Relations for eProNet, an online recruiting and career services business for
alumni of 20 top U.S. universities. Carol was also a member of the founding
executive team and Vice President of Content Development for MindSteps,
developer of web-based enterprise assessment and development planning software.
Prior to MindSteps, Carol spent 13 years with Drake
Beam Morin, a worldwide leader in change and transition consulting for Fortune
500 companies. Carol held a variety of senior management positions at DBM
including Senior Vice President of DBM Training & Consulting, founding
Managing Director of DBM’s Silicon Valley office, and Product Manager for DBM’s
selection management business. The winner of two DBM excellence awards, Carol demonstrated
a track record of success in line management, organizational consulting, executive
coaching, assessment, project management, product development, marketing
and sales.
With her husband H B Gelatt, Carol is co-author of
the second edition of Creative Decision
Making Using Positive Uncertainty (2003).
After receiving her master's degree in counseling
from San Francisco State University and bachelor's degree in psychology and
sociology from the University of Colorado Boulder, Carol spent nearly three
years as a management development trainer for the federal government and career
counselor in higher education. Her first startup experience was as founding
Director of the Career Development Center at John F. Kennedy University where
she also served on the graduate faculty for the master's degree program in
career development.
A fourth-generation Californian, Carol loves to cook,
garden and ski. Since 2003, Carol has completed marathons, half marathons and
triathlons with Team in Training while raising money for the Leukemia &
Lymphoma Society to fund blood-related cancer research and patient services. Carol
also served as Coach for Team in Training’s Silicon Valley Walk Team, training
hundreds of first time and experienced marathoners. She is a long-time House
and Garden Docent at the Filoli Historic Estate in Woodside.
